Inspirations.

Inspirations Zambia

Every time I go back to Zambia I always get re inspired either home in the city or in my favorite place the bush on safari.

During my last visit I decided to bring my collection and take pictures. One photo shoot was done in my hometown Mansa and another one in a very modern studio Inzy in Lusaka.

I also get reminded of my growing up there, As a child I spent a lot of time in the forest, playing hide and seek, searching and collecting mushrooms sometime mangos or other fruits or just collecting brunches and grass to make sweeping brooms, I could sit for hours watching and admiring the secrets of the forest. I particularly liked the trees and admire the branches and the way the leaves change colors every season. It was my perfect hiding place with lasting memories.

This was the perfect combination to rekindle inspiration with my roots and get another dimension in the new series of photo s

Stavanger

It was really great! I laughed all week long I came back really feeling well thanks to Tone who is so warm and made me really feel at home at her house as well as the her studio. I really had a great time!!!

Sitting at the airport thinking back on the past week of felting:

It is actually nice to look back, two different groups:

My first day of the course is always the most interesting day for me. I have to kind of observe everyone and assess their abilities to be able to help them.

The level of experience differs from student to student. Some are experienced felters while others are less experienced and for some this was just their third project!!!!

It is fun but challenging too.

The outcome is what really amazes me all the time I think for the students too. They start with a lot of enthusiasm and on the second day some start   thinking: oh oh oh what will come out of this big piece?????

Then the first try out will come, the second try out and on the third try out I  see their faces start to lighten up again. Big smiles fill their faces and I smile too. I really feel good when people leave happy and with a smile on their face.

I hope you can all smile with us too, when looking at some of these beautiful pieces. See pictures

Always leave enough time in your life to do something that makes you happy, satisfied, even joyous.

January

January 2012 passed by so fast that I had little time to catch up with all my FB friends.

The atelier route is over. It was a very nice weekend with very nice weather cold but sunny,  This allowed a lot of people to take their bicycles around the ateliers in this area,  In my atelier I had a good number of visitors  some returning  and some  I got introduced to the felting technique for their first time. The Mayor with his wife attended  and left a lot of compliments.

This is always very interesting I realize how little people know about felt and most people have no idea what felt is what wool I use and how felted cloths are made.

Last week I introduced felt to the ladies who have never felted before. They made really beautiful creations to take home, some made shawls wraps and collars and some made a spring skirt just in time for our new cold weather we have at the moment.

Now is time to get myself ready for Essen in Belgium where I will be felting hats this weekend. I cant wait to go. I love change in my felting instead of clothes this will be felting creative hats it will be a lot of fun.

After the weekend I will be preparing and heading for Stavanger, Norway  where I teach felting  the winter coats with our Norwegian felting friends.

Finally at the first week of March De Bosch is the venue for another teaching round of fashion felting

I am sure this month might even been faster.
